May 2011 Update
April 30, 2011
Dear WOL Family,
We are already into late April and this year is flying by. I want to apologize for not sending out an update letter in March, but with the trip to Israel and planning for Easter things, we were extremely busy and I wasn’t able to write the letter I intended to during that time.
We are doing a fantastic faith-filled job of giving towards the land the Lord has set before us. We passed the $1,000,000 mark last month; just five months into this campaign. That puts us on target to pay off the $5 million on the 37 acres we have in escrow in 2 years. We are moving ahead with our architectural drawings and our planning with the city. I want to ask you to continue to pray for God to surprise us with a large gift that would allow us to break ground sooner than the two year mark ahead of us. Ephesians 3:20-21 reminds us that He can and will do beyond what we ask or think:
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
As we celebrated Easter last weekend with a rainy service at Glen Helen Amphitheater, I don’t think I have ever pressed into prayer over a building more than during this season. Special seasons tend to bring our need for a larger facility to the forefront. Offering ten services or more on Easter weekend is tough on all of us who serve and participate and renting another facility is both costly and a huge amount of logistical work. After all the work our staff and servant teams did to prepare for a harvest of lives this Easter only to experience the disappointing weather, I think each of you can understand why we do need a larger auditorium and venue to reach the people God continues to bring to us.
Please don’t misunderstand me; I know God worked in great ways this Easter at Glen Helen. I have been reading the emails all week. We can certainly rejoice with the outpouring of His grace on those who attended and came to the altar to receive His touch. But I also know and experience, as many of you do on a regular basis, the difficulty of navigating ministry in a facility that we have outgrown.
So let’s continue to press into Him and sacrificially give believing our giving will touch thousands of lives for His glory! Thank you again for all you do and have done to reach neighborhoods and nations for Him.
Until the Whole World Hears
